Weekday Date Night: Liberty Hall and Teller’s | Lawrence, Kansas

I don’t know about you, but my weekdays get really stale really fast. Work coupled with a daily commute can drain a person. Most nights all I want to do is go home … and stay home. That’s why every now and then I enjoy getting out of the house when the mood strikes. I call it weekday date night.

For a budget-friendly date night, take your significant other out for an indie movie at Liberty Hall and for drinks at Teller’s Restaurant and Bar. This week, the husband and I watched Black Swan. Tickets were buy one ($8) and get the second free.

{Liberty Hall is currently playing the Golden Globe-nominated Black Swan.}

Black Swan was beautiful. Natalie Portman was 100 percent convincing as a ballerina struggling with her own sexuality and slowly slipping into insanity. Unfortunately, the theater was jam packed so the seats were anything but roomy. I’ve been to Liberty Hall before and never had such uncomfortable seats. Most likely it was just a fluke. That, or just don’t arrive to the theater as late as we did. /wink/

After the movie, walk a block south to Teller’s and enjoy $4.50 martinis. I suggest the Pommo (a mix of pomegranate juice and vodka) and the Freddo (a mix of grape juice, white wine and vodka)–both were very delicious. It was the perfect atmosphere for film fodder slash “why-was-she-so-crazy” discussions.

Can you believe that this date only cost $17? ($27 if you want to grab a second round of drinks!) What’s your favorite budget-friendly weekday date night in your local area? Leave me a comment and let me know!
