What I’m Listening To: Gen X Radio

{Tune into 99.7 for a nostalgic fix. Image courtesy www.genxradio.com}

Every once in a while I pine for the “good ol’ days” of music. And by “good ol’ days” of music, I mean really, really, really bad music that I absolutely adore. I’m talking about *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Boyz II Men, Hanson, Destiny’s Child, Ace of Base, Shaggy, etc. (“It wasn’t me!”)

{I’m not ashamed to admit that I own these three CDs … and still listen to them.}

Usually, I have to visit Shark Bar in downtown Kansas City to get my nostalgic fix. But now all I have to do is tune my radio to Gen X Radio, 99.7. Once I heard N’Sync’s Tearin’ Up My Heart—live on the radio!—I was hooked. Gen X Radio is basically an Oldies but Goodies station for 20 year olds.

Its only downfall are its DJs. (Ryan Seacrest in the afternoon? Spare me.) They are way too cheesy and don’t have enough snark like I like my DJs to have. (I’m looking at you Afentra!) But listening to Save Tonight by Eagle Eye Cherry during my 30-minute commute from work? Yes please!

Have you tuned into 99.7 yet? Because you should.
